Restart & BESD Provision (13-16) Years 9, 10 & 11

EYS is one of the leading providers delivering 13-16 'Out of School' and 'at Risk of Exclusion' programmes. The Restart Programme is an initiative that aims to equip year 9, 10 and 11 learners at Key Stage 4 who have disengaged or are at risk of being excluded from mainstream education. It offers a range of learning and support to enable learners to take the next step towards their career goals and the necessary tools to succeed in life.

The Restart Programme provides an alternative curriculum in a relaxed and informal setting. An initial assessment identifies the learning and support needs of each learner, from this a structured curriculum is devised. This assists in the setting of clear and achievable targets and allows learners to work at their own pace. Learners attend from between one and five days a week, depending on their individual requirements. All key subjects are linked to Transition ASDAN, Core Curriculum, BTEC and Edexcel awards. Availability of courses may vary between centres. EYS can deliver the following vocation skills to pupils,

  • Construction
  • Music
  • Sport
  • Parenting/Health & Care
  • Retail
  • ICT
  • GCSEs

The Restart Programme will provide opportunities to strengthen functional skills and therefore develop personal aspirations.

Those learners who show commitment and the ability to cope are able to access our broad and balanced curriculum.

Employ positive behaviour management

Create a supportive learning environment in which learners feel safe

Teach learners to value and respect the contributions of others

EYS also providers courses for individuals or groups with BESD and SEN (Special Educational Needs), which meet OFSTED requirements.

EYS are working towards their centres becoming approved PRUs (Pupil Referral Units) or an independent school for which 5 of our centres already have approved status.
